The 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum will commence in New Delhi from tomorrow. The theme of the two-day event is “Fostering Parliaments for People-Centric Development”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grace the event and will meet the leaders of the visiting delegations. Eleven BRICS Member countries and 10 Partner countries have been invited for the event. Parliamentary delegations from these countries will participate in the meeting.
Lok Sabha Speaker and Chairperson of the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum Om Birla will preside over the proceedings and hold discussions with leaders of the visiting delegations during the bilateral meetings. Building on the legacy of the BRICS Parliamentary Forum, the 12th Forum aims to foster consensus-based dialogue through four High-Level Sessions based on Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability. A dedicated meeting of the Chairs of International Affairs Committees of Parliaments of BRICS Member and Partner countries will be held to deliberate on parliamentary diplomacy, capacity-building, and sharing of best practices. The 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, being hosted by India, will provide an opportunity to advance parliamentary diplomacy, strengthen democratic institutions, and promote cooperation among member and partner countries.
